Sirius Marks 100,000 Subs

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 7/7/2003

NEW YORK— Sirius announced it exceeded the 100,000 mark in new subscribers for its satellite radio service.

As of June 20, it achieved 100,233 subscribers, the company reported. President/CEO Joe Clayton said the numbers were reached "without benefit of" the new popularly styled plug-and-play receivers that are just now starting to ship on the Sirius platform from Kenwood and Audiovox.

Sirius reported 68,000 subscribers at the end of March. Competitor XM Satellite Radio reported 600,000 subscribers as of May.
