Extranet Site For Olympus

By Staff -- TWICE, 5/19/2003

Melville, N.Y.— Olympus America has launched eDesk, a secure business-to-business Extranet Web site that will provide authorized U.S. and Canadian dealers and distributors with online order management, e-commerce capabilities and various business development tools, including marketing materials and training manuals.

The site, which went live last month, also provides real-time product ordering and inventory information as well as order status and price check functionality. "Our objective was to develop an easy-to-use online tool that would allow our resellers to work faster and more efficiently than ever before," explained consumer products group VP Stewart Muller.

Olympus expects at least half of its current authorized resellers to begin utilizing eDesk within the first year, and 100 percent by 2004. To encourage usage, the company offered free overnight shipping on online orders over $500 through last month.
