Memorex Sets Blank Media Price Realignment Program

By Staff -- TWICE, 4/7/2003

Santa Fe Springs, Calif.— In order to simplify pricing of CD-recordable media, digital optical storage products company Memorex has instituted a national consumer price realignment program, mainly through the elimination of consumer rebates.

Beginning in April, Memorex is lowering suggested retails for CD-R media in 50- and 100-pack spindles.

With elimination of rebate programs, Memorex said consumers now can easily evaluate the purchase of the company's CD recordable media, based on quality and price. The change is expected to further demonstrate to consumers the value of the Memorex brand.

"The CD recordable media market has matured, and it is time for pricing to stabilize," said president/CEO Michael Golacinski. "We are eliminating the product promotions that retailers and consumers tell us are too complex and very confusing. We anticipate that this action will provide retailers with more consistent volume sales."
