Video Only Chain Re-ups With NATM

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 2/10/2003

SEATTLE— Former NATM Buying Corp. member Video Only has rejoined the dealer group effective last month.

The 14-store Northwest specialty chain had left NATM in March 2000 along with Queen City TV & Appliance, Vann's and Handy TV, reportedly after key vendors balked at servicing the group's four smallest members.

In a statement, NATM noted that it is "pleased to have them rejoin the group, as their current business is strong and their future plans include additional store locations."

The return of Video Only follows that of Queen City, which re-joined NATM in November. The two had attempted to form an alternative buying group for mid-size dealers, the Association of Selected Television and Appliance Retailers, or ASTAR, in the wake of their departure three years ago, that was to be run by former NATM executive director Saul Gold. Vann's went on to join the Progressive Retailer Organization (PRO Group).

"We are pleased to be rejoining the NATM Group," said Video Only president Peter Edwards, "and look forward to working with the other members to achieve the group's objectives with those manufacturers that have chosen to partner with the group. We believe that the NATM Group, with a few new dealers, will continue to provide the manufacturers with the premier opportunity for success among buying groups."

The addition of Video Only brings NATM's member roster to 10.
