LAS VEGAS— In introducing what it calls the "most versatile battery charger available, ICP Global Technologies debuted at International CES here earlier this month, its iSun BattPak, a docking station for the company's year-old iSun solar charger for small consumer electronics.
The BattPak is the only charger with AC, DC and solar charging capabilities, according to the Montreal-based company, so users can charge batteries at home, in their cars, on boats or in RVs by day and recharge small CE products at night.
BattPak, which is designed to power up 10 AA or AAA nickel-cadmium or nickel-metal hydride rechargeables through an AC wall adapter in the home or a DC 12-volt plug in a car — in as few as 3 to 4 hours — can also be used as a portable power source. Once the batteries are charged, users can leave them in the BattPak to move their energy to power portable CE products such as cellphones, MP3 players, PDAs, laptops, digital cameras and global positioning systems.
For under $100 suggested retail, ICP said it is offering a full-time power solution. Separately, the BattPak has a $29.99 suggested retail and the iSun is $59.99.
The BattPak, which has a 2-year global warranty, is currently available both online and in brick-and-mortar stores.
