CEA To Develop Mobile A/V Network Standard
ARLINGTON, VA. — CEA's Mobile Division Board is pursuing a means for aftermarket products to easily integrate with Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) networks. MOST is a fiber-optic network that allows the transfer of audio and video information in the car. It is currently available in the BMW 7 series and is expected to be used in other cars in the future. CEA's Mobile Division announced that it will ask the R6 Mobile Electronics Technology and Standards Committee to develop a standard or guideline for allowing aftermarket products to link with MOST networks. "They want R6 to figure out a way to help the aftermarket be compatible with MOST," a CEA spokesman said.
MERA Changes Name
INDIANAPOLIS — The Mobile Electronics Retailers Association (MERA) announced it will change its name to Mobile Enhancement Retailers Association effective Feb. 8, 2003. The acronym MERA will continue to be used. MERA said it is changing its name to encompass retailers who sell performance parts.
Sirius Service Offered At Asbury Car Dealers
NEW YORK — Sirius Satellite Radio announced Asbury Automotive Group, with 91 locations in the United States, will offer Sirius service to its new and used car customers. Audiovox will provide the Sirius hardware in the form of a universal adapter that works with any head unit with an FM radio.

Mitek launches new accessories
PHOENIX — Mitek Corp. released a new line of accessories called the SWX series which includes 4-, 8-, and 10-gauge amp kits and RCA cable in lengths ranging from one foot to 25 feet. The line allows dealers to both use the products in their own installation bays and sell them, which will help dealers achieve quotas for discounts and free shipping, said Mitek.
JL Audio Bows enclosure
MIRAMAR, FL—JL Audio introduced a specially optimized enclosure for its W7 subwoofers. Called the CLS112R-W7-BLK, it is a compact sealed enclosure finished in black carpet and gloss black laminate and it is designed to work with the 12W7 subwoofer driver. Enclosures for the 10W7 and 13W7 will be available next year, said the company.
