CE Firms Honored At Sci/Tech Emmys

NEW YORK— Fujitsu, Motorola, Panasonic, Philips and Thomson were among some of the companies honored during the 2002 Scientific & Technological Emmy Awards, held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel, here, earlier this month.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), which runs the awards, selected the winners, and they are:

CBS — For development and standardization of the alignment color bar test signal for television picture monitors

CF InFlight LLP Garrett Brown — For development of remote-remote controlled, cable suspended, moving camera-platform technology

Fujitsu General America, Donald L. Bitzer, H. Gene Slottow, Robert H. Willson — For development of plasma displays

Motorola Broadband Communications Sector, Thomson — For development of the consumer digital set top box for satellite and/or cable

Panasonic — For development of a practical variable frame rate video acquisition camera system that enables under and over cranking

Proximity Corporation — For development of software for managing graphical assets for broadcast

Philips, Thomson — For development and/or commercialization of the 16:9 aspect ratio.
