InFocus Unveils High-Definition DLP Projector

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 9/30/2002

MINNEAPOLIS— Video projector manufacturer InFocus used CEDIA Expo to unveil its second DLP projector slated for consumer home theater applications.

The ScreenPlay 7200 incorporates Texas Instruments' widescreen HDTV chip — called the Mustang/HD2 — Faroudja DCDi FLI2300 video processing technology and Carl Zeiss TM optics.

The projector is listed as a true 720p high-definition front projector with 1,000 lumens and dual light output modes designed to handle varying light conditions.

With eight video inputs, users can experience a broad range of entertainment sources, including enhanced-definition TV, HDTV and DVD viewing.

The 1,400:1 contrast ratio delivers film-like contrast and scene detail and the six-segment color wheel removes artifacts, enhances high-grade picture quality and allows accurate color reproduction.

In addition, the projector's out-of-the-box calibrated home cinema quality simplifies the installation process. The ScreenPlay 7200 is available at a suggested $9,999.
