Custom's Growing Influence Evident At 13th Expo

By Staff -- TWICE, 9/16/2002

MINNEAPOLIS — The custom-installation industry will exert growing influence on suppliers' marketing and product strategies here at CEDIA's 13th annual Expo.

The Sept. 25-29 event will be the largest yet, with about 400 exhibitors and the second annual Installer Olympics occupying 487,500 square feet of space, both up from from last year.

Exhibitors will feature A/V components with 12-volt trigger outputs, RS-232 ports and IR repeater ports to simplify integration with home systems. Installers will also find a mix of devices intended to simplify the distribution of audio, video and data around the house. And in video, a wave of new front- and rear-projection TV products, plasma and LCD flat-panel TVs, as well as a variety of digital TV devices will be featured.

For full show coverage, see CEDIA Expo Preview, p.32; Video, p.45, Audio, p.50. A special NPD TechWorld statistical report on some CEDIA product categories begins in By The Numbers on p.14.
