Sony Acquires Incog

FOSTER CITY, CALIF. — Sony announced it acquired Incog Entertainment, developers of the popular Twisted Metal game franchise. The addition of Incog's creative team was expected to help Sony bolster PlayStation2's leadership position. Incog becomes part of Sony Computer Entertainment America's Santa Monica studio group. Scott Campbell, Incog president, will continue to manage the Salt Lake City-based unit. Financial terms were not available. Incog has developed such games as "Twisted Metal," "Twisted Metal 2," "Twisted Metal Small Brawl" for the PlayStation and PS One consoles; "Twisted Metal: Black" for PlayStation2; and "Twisted Metal: Black Online," the group's first online title, to be released on Aug. 27 in conjunction with the Network Adaptor (Ethernet/Modem) for PlayStation2.

Nintendo Bundles Sunshine

REDMOND, WASH. — Nintendo of America is marketing a GameCube bundle that packages a console with the forthcoming "Super Mario Sunshine" game, beginning Oct. 14. The package will include a special indigo-colored GameCube player, memory card and a copy of the new game title for a $189.95 suggested retail. Nintendo will also introduce a Platinum Edition of the GameCube on Nov. 3. that emulates the successful Platnium Edition Game Boy Advance offer, will carry a $149.95 suggested retail. It will also bring back the Platinum Edition GBA for a limited run on the same launch date.
