Sony Introduces LCD Monitors

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 7/22/2002

New York— Sony unveiled a series of new flat-panel computer displays and its new music download capability from supplier pressplay to its MiniDisc player line at PC Expo in June.

The flat-panels come in four sizes — 15-inch, 17-inch, 18-inch and 20-inch — and are part of Sony's DeluxePro series. The latter two models will ship in August and September, respectively, with suggested retails of $900 and $2,000. The 15-inch and 17-inch panels began shipping this month with suggested retails of $550 and $1,100.

The pressplay deal will allow NetMD players to transfer music from the Web site. The pressplay service is offered through Sony's Musiclub Web site. Pressplay is a pay service with fees starting at $9.95 per month to download music.
