Atlantic Intros Portable Steel Case Collection

Staff -- TWICE, 6/24/2002

Santa Fe Springs, Calif.— With protection on the go for CDs, DVDs and CD-ROMs as its primary goal, Atlantic is introducing its portable CD Steel Case collection. Available in six models, the cases are made of a hard plastic covered by metal casts in matte and glossy finishes, to give them the look and strength of steel without the burdensome weight.

More durable than competing soft wallets, according to Atlantic, the case line is said not only to better protect CDs and DVDs from breakage and scratches, but its metallic finish deflects the sun's rays to prevent heat warping, something that happens when CDs are stored in a vehicle.

Sleeves are attached to the case with a two-ring binder system that secures them in place, while making them easy to remove. A sliding lock system makes it easy to open the case and ensures it stays closed.

CD Steel Cases are available in sizes of 24 CDs with 12 booklets and 60 CDs with 30 booklets.

The 24-CD cases, all at $11.99 suggested retail, include Classic, Line, Dot and Tailgate styles.

Classic is simple with sleek lines and comes in black, blue and silver. The top of the case features raised lines and black trim. Line offers four bold stripe accents on top and comes in silver with blue lines and trim, silver with black lines and trim, and black with silver lines and trim. Dot includes 16 raised beads that accentuate the top and is available in silver with blue dots, silver with black dots and black with silver dots. Tailgate is named for its textured surface, which resembles a truck tailgate with small, raised dashes. Models are available in black and silver.

The 60-CD cases, both at $21.99 suggested retail, include Classic, which is a double version of the smaller Classic case. It comes in black, blue and silver — all with black trim. It also has a removable shoulder strap, making it easy to tote.

The 60-CD Line is a larger storage case that looks like a side-by-side version of the smaller Line cases. It has a removable storage strap for portability and is available in silver with blue lines and trim, silver with black lines and trim, and black with silver lines and trim.
