BSH's Haase To Retire In July

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 6/3/2002

Huntington Beach, Calif.— BSH Home Appliances president/CEO Hans-Peter Haase will retire July 1 after 10 months in the job. He will be succeeded by Franz Bosshard, currently president/CEO of BSH China.

Haase, a 36-year-veteran of German parent BSH Bosch und Siemens Hausgerate, succeeded Reinhard Metzger in September. During his short tenure as head of BSH's North American white goods business, he spearheaded a major expansion strategy that includes stepped-up marketing, continued emphasis on product innovation, a new focus on laundry and cooking products and a $200 million investment in operations.

He also oversaw the start of a $154 million factory expansion project in North Carolina, and BSH's entry into the floor care and small appliance markets.

His successor, Franz Bosshard, is credited with building BSH China into a $200 million business, and was praised by Haase as "a strategic thinker and a hands-on manager with exceptional talent."

Haase will return to Germany in July.
