Dragster Car Audio Enters U.S. Market

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 5/13/2002

HOUSTON— Dragster Car Audio, a European brand based in Milano, Italy, is entering the U.S. market with a line of amplifiers, speakers, processors and accessories totaling over 100 products.

Dragster America, the exclusive distributor for the brand, is headed up by Gary Wermuth, who was formerly a principle at manufacturers' rep Factory Sales and Marketing, which represented brands including Rockford Fosgate, Eclipse, Lighting Audio, Bazooka, Monster Cable and Clarion.

Dragster is focusing on high-margin products with aggressive warranties including a three-year exchange policy on amplifiers and two years on speakers for products installed by authorized dealers.

Dragster's entry-level amplifiers claim to offer "no noise" through the use of a technology that isolates each RCA input ground from the main battery ground. They are also fan-cooled. Power ratings begin at 66 watts per channel with prices ranging from $149.95 to $349.95. Dragster's mid-level models offer adjustable crossovers and use ultra low tolerance components for greater efficiency at prices from $219.95 up to $499.95. At the high end are two- and four-channel 1200 watt amplifiers at $999.95 and $1099.95, respectively.
