Cellphone Holster Provides Constant Power

Staff -- TWICE, 4/15/2002

Ventura, Calif.— A Solar Holster for a cellphone or PDA, called SunBlazer, is designed to provide constant power for a number of major cellphone styles and brands.

The constant power is based on solar charging and the product's own storage battery, thus eliminating power shortages, low battery status or being cut off in the middle of an important or emergency call.

The SunBlazer Holster offers 5 to 8 hours of additional talk time and weeks of standby time for a cellphone. It charges at a one-to-one rate, whereby an hour of sunlight equals an hour of talk time.

The SunBlazer's built-in storage battery delivers 5 hours of talk time. The solar panel delivers 3 to 5 hours of talk time, totaling 8 to 10 hours of peak power talk time.

Manufacturer Genesis Electronics said the Holster charges and maintains cellphone batteries at 90 percent of capacity and delivers power from solar in varying light conditions.

Shipping is planned for the third quarter of 2002, and suggested retail is $144.95.
