Secaucus, N.J.— Panasonic is introducing a high performance, long lasting AA nickel-zinc battery specifically designed to power digital cameras.
The company said the newly developed battery, the first of its kind to be introduced into the United States, is designed to provide longer lasting power than high-drain alkaline batteries.
Panasonic claims its battery powered an average of more than 50 additional shots when compared with Duracell M3 and Energizer E2 batteries.
The number of shots taken when using the Panasonic battery, on average, surpassed those using the Duracell M3 by 27 percent and Energizer E2 by 47 percent, according to Panasonic.
The AA battery, the most widely used power source for digital cameras, said Panasonic, will have an estimated retail range of $5.49 to $5.99 and ship in May.
