Tweeter Forges Custom Strategy

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 4/15/2002

Canton, Mass.—Tweeter Home Entertainment Group has embarked on an aggressive new game plan thats designed to boost its custom home installation business by upwards of 50 percent per year.

The strategy calls for the high-end A/V chain to build custom home vignettes — dubbed Electronic Environments Living Rooms — in 40 percent of its 156 stores. Tweeter has also enlisted software developer Monolith Media to create new Web-enabled custom install design programs for use by the retailers' custom sales staff.

Tweeter believes the effort could expand its sales per store by an average of $1 million, and foresees as much as 50 percent of its future revenues keyed to some element of the custom install business.

Said spokeswoman Anne-Marie Boucher, "We look forward to a bright future in this space."
