LeapFrog Moves On To High School

By Doug Olenick -- TWICE, 2/25/2002

New York — Educational toy maker LeapFrog introduced a slew of new learning aides, including the company's first products geared toward high school students.

LeapFrog announced plans to extend its Quantum Pad Learning System to high school students, while adding new products like the iQuest Test Prep Workbook, Interactive Talking Handheld and a line of infant and toddler devices.

The Quantum Pad, for grade school students, will ship this fall with a $49.99 suggested retail price. The individual lessons will cost $14.95. The Quantum Pad has three areas, the School Success series, which teaches fundamental skills for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders, Exploration Series for the sciences and Great Reader Series. The addition to the Turbo Twist line, shipping in the fall, is the Brain Quest edition. This incorporates questions from the popular Brain Quest card game into an interactive learning experience.

LeapFrog will ship game cartridges, $14.99 suggested retail price, for its iQuest Interactive Talking Handheld this fall for middle school students.

The Test Prep Workshop is designed to help high school students study for SAT, PSAT and ACT tests. The lessons were prepared by the Stanley Kaplan test preparation staff. It will cost $24.99 and ship this fall.

Another line extension from LeapFrog was in the company's Explorer and Odyssey globe line. The Explorer Globe III and Odyssey Globe IV are interactive, talking globes that can be updated via the Internet. The former will carry a $99 suggested retail price and the latter cost $129 when they ship this fall.
