How CE Retail Saved Christmas

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 2/11/2002

LAS VEGAS— Heartened by CE's strong performance in a soft holiday season, the industry's leading retailers are hopeful for more of the same for the balance of 2002.

That was the word from panelists at the TWICE Retail Roundtable, held here last month during CES. Specifically, the veritable who's who of merchants, whose stores and Web sites account for better than 40 percent of all CE sales, said better goods, particularly HD projection TVs, are leading the product parade.

Other topics tackled by the Roundtable: regaining equilibrium after Sept. 11; clicks-and-bricks becomes a mandatory model; and Good Guys' battle for profitability. The report begins on p. 14.
