Vidikron Using CES As Venue To Unveil Rebuilt Organization

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 1/8/2002

LAS VEGAS— High-end video projection systems supplier Vidikron will use CES to unveil its newly restructured administration and distribution operations that will be more responsive to retailer needs, the company assured.

"The new Vidikron of America has been in a rebirth phase since August 2001," said Vidikron's new sales and marketing VP Greg Rizzo, who recently joined Vidikron from Dream Vision. "And now we are ready to rock with leading edge technology and high-performance products, supported by extremely responsive customer and technical service departments."

Adding to that a new "aggressive" advertising campaign for 2002, the Rizzo said he expects "to increase our company's profile and significantly expand our dealer base in 2002."

Vidikron will launch at the show a new 12-month branding campaign earmarked for consumer video enthusiast and retail trade print publications.

According to Rizzo, the ads will depict Vidikron's commitment to current and future display technologies.

Vidikron has developed a more comprehensive dealer-training program. The company said it is now assembling a team of experienced, highly regarded front projection experts, to provide improved dealer and rep training programs.

Vidikron is also expanding its video projector product line and adding new processors, and accessories. "Our dealers have repeatedly asked us for a complete line of projectors including DLP, LCD, and LCoS models. We are also preparing to introduce our own plasma systems as well as new video scalers," said Rizzo. "Our goal is to make the Vidikron of 2002 a more attractive, one-stop solution for a wider range of dealers."

At CES, the company will show its Single Scan Scaler (between $4,000-$5,000 street retail), which incorporates Faroudja deinterlacing technology and upconversion. The unit will work with a wide range of video display types including plasma, LCoS, LCD and DLP single-lens projection, HDTV direct view, and rear projection.

The Single Scan Scaler is available in one scan rate pre-chosen by the dealer to match the desired display device.

Also added is a "a revamped projection screen line" and high-performance video cables.

To accommodate the expansion Vidikron is seeking qualified reps and dealers in select territories, the company said.
