Directed Completes ADS Purchase

Vista, Calif.— Directed Electronics Inc. (DEI) announced it has completed the acquisition of certain assets of ADS Technologies (ADST), which supplies the ADS, Precision Power (PPI) and Orion brands.

The purchase is in keeping with DEI's plans to grow its audio business and to "become a major player in the audio business in the years ahead," said DEI president and CEO Jim Minarik.

Kurien Jacob, former president of ADST will join DEI as general manager of its new Phoenix-based audio operation. This operation will be focused on product development, engineering and sales & marketing. Karen Metros, Roger Paeselt and Bill Turner will continue to lead the respective ADS, PPI and Orion sales organizations, according to DEI.
