Whirlpool To Offer Contractors Online Claims System

Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 12/3/2001

BENTON HARBOR, MICH.— Whirlpool is launching a new Web-based platform that will allow it to conduct warranty and service claims transactions with its independent contractors online by year's end.

The system, developed by Fairfax, Va.-based ServiceBench, is designed to streamline claims processing and slash the amount of administrative time that service contractors devote to filing claims.

According to Whirlpool warranty administrator Bill Allen, the new system is also expected to improve the speed and accuracy of the company's service claim payments and permit its contractors to view status updates on submitted claims at all times.

Allen added that the system's electronic parts purchase verification feature "is expected to reduce the involvement of independent parts distributors in the claims process."
