THX EX Sales Are Announced

San Rafael, Calif.— More than 300,000 receivers and processors sold worldwide include THX Surround EX decoding technology, Lucasfilm announced.
More than 23 home electronics companies worldwide have licensed the technology. Surround EX was introduced in September 1999 and appears in all products certified by Lucasfilm under the THX Ultra and Ultra2 programs.
Licensees are also permitted to incorporate the technology in THX Select-certified products. The company said many new products introduced at January's CES will incorporate EX.
