M.W. Lee, president of Samsung Digital Consumer Electronics Division, has left the company to join the management of Sony Korea. No official replacement has been named, but John Garrison, executive VP of sales and marketing VP for the division, will take on Lee's responsibilities Jim Palumbo, long-time Sony Electronics executive, has been named president and CEO of Aiwa America. Palumbo, most recently senior VP for external affairs at Sony Electronics and former head of the company's TV business, succeeds Hideki Tafuku, who will be returning to Aiwa's headquarters in Japan. Aiwa America is a subsidiary of Aiwa Co. Ltd., which is majority owned by Sony… Matthew Gill, senior VP of sales & marketing for Viewsonic, joins Philips Consumer Electronics as VP & chairman of its Professional Products business in North America. The Philips unit markets PC monitors, drives, PC audio and projectors. Gill succeeds Simon Barmbach who is returning to the Netherlands.
