Thomson Drops X-cam Digicam

By Greg Scoblete -- TWICE, 9/3/2001

INDIANAPOLIS— Thomson/RCA has decided not to ship its CC2210 "X-cam" digital still/MP3 camera that it showed at a line preview in New York in July. The camera was set to ship in the fall.

The company's only comment was a statement issued through a spokesperson that said, "Thomson has decided not to move ahead with the X-cam product, determining that the market opportunity was not right for the category."

The spokesman did add that Thomson will continue to produce digital cameras, just not this specific model which was geared toward the low-end youth market.
