EL SEGUNDO, CALIF. — Aura Sound is debuting a new flagship line of subwoofers featuring Chroma Flair paint, which changes color under different lighting conditions.
The company is also bringing the neodymium magnet technology from its home speakers into car audio in several new subwoofers and speakers. Called NRT, the new technology uses radically charged neodymium magnets which retain all the magnetic flux in the voice call for improved speaker efficiency, said VP sales and marketing, Bob Goodman.
Under the new competition grade Elan subwoofer series are four models with Chroma Flair paint and NRT. The changeable color paint has been used on Saleen Mustangs and Gold Wing Hondas, but this is its first application in car audio, said Goodman. The new subwoofers range in size from 10 inches to 18 inches and are expected to ship this summer at suggested retail prices from $649.99 to $1299.99. The subwoofers will be complemented by three amplifiers and two component sets in the fall — also with the Chroma Flair paint.
Aura Sound is also shipping new RPM Stage 2 speakers with NRT. These include two sets of component systems and six different two-way speakers.
Two- and three-way speakers in the RPM line range in size from 4 inches to 6 by 9 inches and feature polypropylene cones, butyl rubber surrounds, soft dome tweeters and easy drop-in installation. Component systems are available in 5 ¼ inches and 6 ½ inches with separate crossovers. Multi-element models will range from $49.99 to $99.99 suggested retail price, and components will carry prices of $129.99 and $149.99 respectively.
Also under the RPM Stage 2 line are newly designed amplifers. The four-model series, designed for competition, has new cosmetics and offers remote bass boost. All models have variable remote bass level control from 0 to + 10dB @ 55Hz and 18dB per octave low-pass and high-pass crossovers.
The line includes the model 2150 RPM, a 2 x 80 watt or 1 x 240 watt mono amplifier; the 2300 RPM, a 2 x 150 watt or 1 x 450 watt mono amplifier; the 4200 RPM, a 4 x 60 watt or 2 x 160 watt or 2 x 60 watt + 160 watt mono model, and the five-channel model 5350 RPM with 4 x 50 watts plus 150 watts mono. Suggested retail prices range from $199.99 to $399.99.
