May Added To DisplaySearch Conference

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 2/10/2012

Santa Clara, Calif. - Dennis L. May, CEO of hhgregg, has signed on as a conference speaker at NPD DisplaySearch's U.S. FPD Smart Display Conference, to take place Feb. 28-29 at the Hard Rock in San Diego.

Kicking off day two of the conference, May will join The NPD Group's Stephen Baker, industry analysis VP,  for a conversation on the opportunities and challenges in the U.S. CE retail segment in the coming year. May will speak on Feb. 29 starting at 8:10 a.m.

During the session, May will bring a veteran retailers perspective into the conversation about how to deliver TV industry growth in 2012.

The agenda for the two-day session will cover everything from tablets and Ultrabooks to smart TVs and large-screen FPDs.

"The addition of Mr. May and Mr. Baker to the U.S. FPD Smart Display Conference greatly adds to our prestigious speaker lineup. Their insights will extend the discussions on flat-panel and smart display related sectors to the retail market," said Paul Semenza, NPD DisplaySearch senior VP.

"With the vast majority of FPD sales going through the retail channel in the U.S., both brands and retailers need to maintain an open dialogue to drive the market forward," said Baker. "As one of the largest and fastest growing US retailers of flat-panel TVs, hhgregg will be a vital component in successfully bringing initiatives like smart displays and Ultrabooks to the consumer."

May joined hhgregg in 1999. He has been CEO since August 2009. From 1999 to January 2003 he served as the executive VP and COO, and he was appointed president and COO in January 2003.
