Monitor Ships First Trim-Less Custom Speakers

Pickering, Ontario - Kevro International has begun shipping the first trim-less custom-install speakers from British speaker maker Monitor Audio, and Kevro plans to expand the selection later this year.

The new CWT series of in-wall and in-ceiling speakers combine trim-less design and low-profile grilles for unobtrusive installs, the company said.

Three two-way models are available with 4-, 6-, and 8-inch woofers, and each can be used with a square or round grille for in-wall or in-ceiling installs. They're priced at $160, $200, and $270 each, respectively.

 All CWT models are less than 4-inches-deep for mounting in walls and ceilings with restricted depth, and their size has been reduced 25 percent compared to other models with the same-size drivers by integrating the bass driver basket and frame, the company said. Grilles are held in place by neodymium magnets.

 All models feature technologies from Monitor's high-end in-room speakers, which are voice-matched to their custom counterparts. Technologies included from the in-room speakers include C-CAM gold dome tweeters, which boost frequency response beyond 20kHz. The tweeters also pivot up to 15 degrees in all directions towards the listening space to provide ideal imaging and reduce unwanted reflections when installed close to corners or wall boundaries.

 All offer paintable grilles, and all are splash- and humidity-proof for installation in shower rooms or pool areas. They also feature dust-protection covers to prevent loose building materials or dust from reaching the driver and crossover network.

 The speakers come with dedicated pre-construction (rough-in) brackets and a three-position dog-style mounting configuration said to provide greater contact surface area than other types of mounting configurations while reducing installation time.
