Brightpoint Reports Q4 Sales Increase

Indianapolis - Brightpoint reported a double-digit gain in its revenue for the fourth quarter, but slightly lower net income.

Revenue was $1.56 billion in the fourth quarter of 2011, an increase of 39 percent, compared with the fourth quarter of 2010, for the provider of device lifecycle services to the wireless industry.

Net income was $15.07 million, down from the prior year's final quarter of $15.8 million.

Wireless devices handled were 30.7 million (includes 0.8 million tablets) for the fourth quarter of 2011, which was a record amount handled in a quarter for Brightpoint. This represents an increase of 6 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2010, and an increase of 13 percent compared with the third quarter of 2011, the company said.

For the calendar year, revenue increased 46 percent to $5.24 billion, and net income was $48.8 million compared with the prior year's $30.1 million.

Wireless devices handled, including tablets, were 112.2 million for the year, ended Dec. 31, 2011, which represents a record amount handled in a year.
