Apple Names Ex-Dixons CEO To Head Retail Stores

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 1/31/2012

Cupertino, Calif. - Apple has found a new executive to run its retail stores.

John Browett, formerly CEO of British tech retailer Dixons, will succeed Ron Johnson as retail senior VP, effective this April.

Johnson, who developed the Apple's retail strategy and much-vaunted store format, left the company last year for the CEO slot at JCPenney.

In his new role, Browett will be responsible for Apple's retail strategy and the chain's continued worldwide expansion of the chain. He reports to Apple CEO Tim Cook

"Our retail stores are all about customer service, and John shares that commitment like no one else we've met," Cook said in a statement. "We are thrilled to have him join our team and bring his incredible retail experience to Apple."

Prior to joining Dixons, Browett held a series of executive positions at global retailer Tesco, including CEO of Tesco.com, and advised retail and consumer goods clients at Boston Consulting Group.
