Sony Adds Entry Cyber-shot SKUs

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 1/10/2012

LAS VEGAS — Sony (booth 14200) is unveiling at International CES three Cyber-shot point-and-shoot cameras with improved creative features ranging from 360-degree Sweep Panorama capture to a host of new picture effects.

The new entry-level cameras all offer compact body designs and include the DSCW610 ($110 suggested retail), DSC-W620 ($120) and DSC-W650 ($150).

The 360-degree Sweep Panorama feature is included in all three models, offering the capture of seamless 360-degree panoramic images of the surrounding landscape with one “press and sweep” continuous shooting motion.

The resulting multiple images are automatically stitched together to create one detailed panoramic photo in the camera.

An Intelligent Auto mode optimizes camera settings for focus, exposure, subjects and more based on the external environment.

Image blurring due to camera shake is reduced and subject motion is reduced with a SteadyShot image stabilization system found in the DSC-W610 and DSC-W620 cameras.

The DSC-W650 model offers enhanced Optical SteadyShot functionality and also boasts a 16.1-megapixel Super HAD CCD image sensor.

The new DSC-W620 and W650 cameras also feature 720p HD Movie mode and four Picture Effect options that can be used to create customized, artistic images. Other effects include Toy Camera, Partial Color, Pop Color and Soft High-key.

Accessories for the cameras include the new LCS-1, LCS-2, LCS-TWM and LCMCSVH carrying cases.

The DSC-W610 will be available in silver, black, pink, green and blue later this month and offers a 14.1-megapixel Super HAD CCD image sensor, 4x optical zoom and 2.7- inch LCD screen.

The DSC-W620 will be available in silver, black and red this February and includes a 14.1-megapixel Super HAD CCD image sensor, 5x optical zoom starting at a 28mm equivalent, 2.7-inch LCD screen and four total picture effects.

The DSC-W650 camera will be available in silver, black and red this February and will include a 3-inch LCD screen and four total picture effects.
