CEA To Offer Mobile Electronics Sell-Through Stats

By Joseph Palenchar -- TWICE, 1/10/2012

Las Vegas - The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) teamed up with Installer Net to develop retail-level sales statistics for the mobile electronics aftermarket.

The CEA already offers factory-level sales information.

With the tie-up, the CEA said it will use extensive data available from members of the Mobile Electronics Retailers Association (MERA), which is owned by InstallerNet.

"We are excited to be able to offer the industry both sell-in and now for the first time, sell-through data from the specialty mobile electronics retail channel," said Steve Koenig, industry analysis director for CE MarketMetrics.

InstallerNet based in North Andover, Mass., also specializes in merchandising and coordinating consumer electronics installation services through independently owned mobile and home electronics installers. The network delivers professional installation services for InstallerNet's client retailers via InstallCard, which is similar to a gift card.

InstallCard enables consumer electronics manufacturers to sell installing product through non-installing sales channels. The InstallCard is available for sale in a variety of major retail locations including RadioShack, Crutchfield, Target and Office Depot.
