LG Updates Microwave Oven Line

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 11/21/2011

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. – LG Electronics has begun shipping a new line of microwave ovens featuring enhanced performance features and premium designs.

New features include convection and sensor cooking, an over-the-range (OTR) venting system, and a special pizza baking drawer. The new additions are available in OTR and countertop models and in a variety of finishes.

“Our microwaves offer consumers superior performance and time-saving features that make cooking more convenient and enjoyable,” said Ellis Mass, the company’s brand communications director for home appliances. “By expanding our lineup with greater functionality and new design palettes, consumers can enjoy a variety of appliances that are sure to complement any kitchen decor.”

The new models, which extend LG’s microwave line to about 30 ovens, include:

• an OTR convection microwave (model LMVH1711ST) that can serve as a second oven where consumers can pre-heat, bake or roast foods in less time. Humidity sensors determine when food is cooked and automatically turn off the microwave to help prevent the over- or under- cooking of meals; the suggested retail in a stainlesssteel finish is $629;

• an OTR microwave (model LMH2016ST) with LG’s “Extenda” vent, which covers the entire cooking surface, including the front burners, for better, more complete ventilation in the kitchen, the company said; the unit features humidity sensors and stainless-steel finish, and carries a suggested retail of $419; and

• a 1,000-watt countertop microwave (model LCSP1110ST) with a 1,400-watt pizza drawer that can cook and bake at the same time. Featuring an Auto Pizza mode that automatically adjusts cooking times for fresh or frozen pizzas, the unit is available in stainless at a suggested retail of $209.
