CEA Applauds Passage Of Free Trade Bill

Arlington, Va. - The Consumer Electronics Association is congratulating Congress for passage of a bill that it has said is long overdue - passage of free trade agreements with Colombia, Panama and South Korea.The U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate passage of the free trade agreements between the U.S. and those three countries after years of bickering on Capitol. Hill.
In a statement Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA said, "By passing free trade agreements with Colombia, Panama and South Korea, the U.S. Congress has paved the way for American job creation, economic growth and prosperity. Over the last 15 years, free trade has helped foster a high-tech boom, created more than 25 million jobs, and increased real wages for U.S. workers."
He added, "CEA and the members of its Innovation Movement have worked tirelessly alongside many in America to see these agreements sent to Congress and passed. We thank the Obama administration and congressional leadership for taking this critical step."
