Both men will continue to report to Phil Molyneux, Sony Electronics president and COO. The move became effective Oct. 1, a Sony spokesman told TWICE.

Abary had been overseeing the Home Entertainment of America business, while simultaneously managing the marketing of Sony's home products solutions, the spokesman said. The shift is expected to bring a closer focus to the rapidly growing entertainment products and services component of the business, which includes online entertainment software, entertainment services (including BIV and the Sony Entertainment Network), business development and strategic partnerships within the home entertainment industry.

Under Haber, it is also expected bring a close focus on the Bravia TV business, which has had profit challenges of late amid the struggling economy.

Prior to moving to the home division, Abary led Sony's network technology and services division in the U.S., which covered Vaio computers, Sony Ericsson unlocked phones, the Sony Reader and Sony's Backstage premium technical services. He joined Sony in 2000 serving in various capacities for Vaio and IT products.

Haber moves into the home products division from his role as executive VP handling Sony Reader products. Haber will continue to oversee the Sony Reader business in addition to his new responsibilities, Sony said.

Earlier, Haber had been senior VP in charge of the personal mobile and imaging division, where he was responsible for personal audio, mobile electronics, digital still cameras, digital photo printers and related accessories in the United States.
