Libertyville, Ill. - The antitrust division of the U.S. Department of Justice asked Motorola Mobility and Google for information and documents to assess the potential anticompetitive impact of Google's proposed acquisition of the cellphone maker.Motorola reported this in a filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The companies "intend to cooperate fully and respond expeditiously to the DOJ," Motorola said in the filing.
The company also said the purchase is expected to close by the end of 2011 or in early 2012.
