Adobe Releases Lightroom, Camera Raw Updates

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 9/29/2011

San Jose, Calif. - Adobe released on its Web site Thursday final versions of its Lightroom 3.5 and Camera Raw 6.5 still image editing software.

Originally posted as release candidates on Adobe Labs, the final updates are said to provide raw file format support for over 20 new cameras including Nikon Coolpix P7100, Olympus E-PL3, Panasonic DMC-G3 and Sony Alpha NEX-C3.

It also adds over 25 lens profiles including support for the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.4G ED and Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L USM lenses to help photographers automatically correct unwanted distortion and chromatic aberration.

Both versions also correct issues reported from the latest release candidates, as reported from the large user community for the popular franchises, the company said.

Lightroom is a photography workflow solution, designed to help serious amateur and professional photographers quickly import, manage, enhance and showcase images within one application.

The Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in provides fast and easy access to raw image formats produced by many leading digital cameras.

The Lightroom 3.5 update is available as a free download for Lightroom 3 customers, and the Photoshop Camera Raw 6.5 plug-in is available as a free download for Photoshop CS5 customers.
