 It will ship Nov. 15.

The tablet will be bundled with a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime, the online seller's subscription delivery and video-streaming service.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said the Fire will give customers access to Amazon's movies, TV shows, music library and books along with many Android apps.

The Fire uses a special web browser called Amazon Silk. The browser resides on both the device and what Bezos called the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud. This will enable fast page downloads, he added.

The Fire wasn't the only headliner for the event. Amazon also showed off the Kindle Touch, a touchscreen version of its hot-selling e-reader. It will carry a $99 suggested retail. There is also a 3G version with a $149 price. Both go on pre-order today, shipping on Nov. 21.

Amazon also showed an even lower-priced Kindle, at $79. It drops the touchscreen and keyboard.
