hhgregg Confirms 14 Chicago Stores

Indianapolis - hhgregg will enter the Chicago market this fall with 14 stores.The multiregional CE and majaps chain announced plans earlier this year to open its first stores there, but didn't specify a store count. Industry observers believe the company will eventually build out the Windy City market to in excess of 20 locations. It leased a new 247,360-square-foot distribution center to support the stores last month.
hhgregg confirmed today that it has begun recruiting for 700 employees to staff 14 area stores, which include locations in Arlington Heights, Geneva, Gurnee, Joliet, Naperville, Schaumburg and Vernon Hills.
The chain, whose goal is to build a national footprint, currently operates 180 stores throughout the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and South.
