Kindle 3G Gets AT&T Store Distribution

Joseph Palenchar -- TWICE, 2/28/2011

Dallas - AT&T Wireless stores will begin selling the Kindle 3G at $189 in its company-owned stores starting March 6.

The device will be the first dedicated e-reader offered in AT&T owned stores, which will display the device in connected-device displays that feature laptops and tablets.

In its fourth quarter ending December, AT&T added 2 million subscriptions for connected devices, bringing its year-end connected-device subscription base to 11 million.

Kindle 3G connects to Wi-Fi networks and to AT&T's 3G network to download books, magazines, newspapers and personal documents for display on its 6-inch Pearl E Ink display, promoted as readable in direct sunlight. It can store up to 3,500 books and operate for up to one month on one battery charge with wireless turned off.
