Sony, Sixth Avenue Hold Charity Raffle

TWICE Staff -- TWICE, 2/24/2011

Paramus, N.J. - Sony and Sixth Avenue Electronics joined forces to raise money and awareness for a local children's charity last week, with an assist from basketball great John Starks.

TaylorWLPJ disc jockey Race Taylor and basketball great John Starks raffled Sony products at a Sixth Avenue store.
The former Knick, together with local radio DJ Race Taylor of WPLJ, raffled off four Sony products an hour at the A/V chain's Paramus, N.J., store, including a grand-prize 40-inch Bravia 3D TV.

Proceeds from the raffle, along with a $30,000 donation from Sixth Avenue, went to Youth Consultation Service (YCS), a leading non-profit social services agency in the Garden State. The funds will be used to send children YCS group homes to summer camp for two weeks.

Said Sony consumer sales manager Beth Barone, "The summer camp program gives these children the opportunity to experience the healing power of nature and feel like regular kids doing fun things like fishing, hiking, swimming and singing songs around a campfire."
