Western Digital Ships Powerline Networking Kit

Western Digital's Livewire Powerline AV Networking KitLake Forest, Calif. - Western Digital entered the networking category today with the introduction a powerline home networking kit.
The company introduced the WD Livewire Powerline AV Networking Kit, a HomePlug AV-compatible device shipping immediately for $139.
The kit comes with two four-port adapters, two Ethernet cables, and the software to move data files from a computer to a home's Internet-ready devices. The data transfer rate is the HomePlug AV standard 200MBps, fast enough to move full 1,080p video.
"WD is responding to the growing demand for the connected digital living room. This means we are interested in delivering home-made, professional and user-generated content from the PC to the television set. Livewire Powerline AV Network Kit has a part to play in that as does our WD TV Live Plus media player as well as our network storage drives
