Samsung Adds Support Channel App

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 6/17/2010

Ridgefield Park, N.J. - Samsung launched Thursday its Samsung Product Support TV (SPSTV) channel as one of the Samsung Apps for its connected HDTVs.

The SPSTV apps will access what the company calls "the world's first HDTV-based application store."

The SPSTV App allows users to stream Samsung product support content 24 hours a day, seven days a week directly to their living rooms. It is now available for download on all 2010 Samsung TVs that feature Samsung Apps.

Content for SPSTV is streamed to TVs over the Internet and provides product support to Samsung customers through a library of how-to video guides, weekly live-shows and interactive chat sessions.

The goal of the services is to bring customer service and product support beyond a toll-free number and into users' living rooms, Samsung said.

Currently, the SPSTV App offers a library of more than 150 how-to videos covering topics from setting up a Samsung TV to syncing a Samsung mobile phone with a laptop, with plans to add more videos as new products are launched. New videos will also be created to address questions that consumers have encountered in the past.

Other apps partners include: Blockbuster, Netflix, Pandora, Twitter, USA Today and Vudu.

Samsung also recently added Apps for Facebook and Google Maps.
