The JVC Everio GZ-HM550 ($799.95 suggested retail) features a 10.6-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor for recording high-quality FullHD (1,920 by 1,080 in AVCHD) video and 9-megapixel digital stills.

The camcorder also has improved low-light shooting capability and a built-in flash for shooting stills.

The Konica/Minolta zoom lens extends to a 16x dynamic zoom range, and built-in advanced image stabilization keeps images smooth even when the camcorder is moved during shooting.

Storage includes 32GBs of internal flash memory that is expandable through the built-in SD/SDHC card slot.

The camcorder's Bluetooth functionality works with a data logger and included software during playback to automatically synchronize with Google Earth to pinpoint where photos were taken. It also works with select smartphones to provide remote control functionality.

Also, images can be wirelessly transmitted to a smartphone for playback and transfer.

Bluetooth will also enable the camcorder to pair with an Everio wireless headset, offering a connection range of about 30 feet.
