Almo Debuts Retail Display; Adds Niles To Pro A/V Div

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 3/19/2010

Philadelphia - Almo, the national distributor of consumer electronics and major appliances, has developed a trade show display format that recreates the look of a retail sales floor.

The display, which debuted last week at the MEGA buying group's spring convention in Orlando, Fla., was created to provide retailers with total home entertainment display solutions.

Almo will showcase the new display format at each of its 2010 Consumer Electronics & Appliance Expo shows this spring and summer, and at industry events throughout the year.

"Each year we adjust the format of our trade show programs to ensure we're helping our dealer partners remain competitive," said Almo president/COO Warren Chaiken. "For 2010 we've modified our display program to emulate the ideal retail floor configuration which showcases product solutions that are designed to be sold and used as a complete home entertainment or appliance package. This approach takes the guesswork out of matching components and accessories."

Almo will hold its 2010 Consumer Electronics & Appliance Expos May 4-5 in Atlantic City, N.J.; July 28-29 in St. Louis; Aug. 3-4 in Cincinnati; and Aug. 12 in St. Paul, Minn.

In other Almo news, the distributor's professional A/V division has added Niles Audio's commercial audio products and accessories to its line card.

The distribution deal includes 77 different Niles-branded commercial products, ranging from amplifiers to weather-resistant loudspeakers.

"Niles has always been a respected name in the residential market; however, many of the company's products are also ideal for commercial applications," said Sam Taylor, executive VP/ COO of Almo professional A/V. "This relationship with Niles gives our dealer base access to premium commercial audio products that provide great margin potential. Adding the Niles brand to our audio lineup also strengthens our ability to be a single source for our partners' A/V needs."

Added Mike "Sparky" Detmer, Niles' sales and marketing VP, "Almo professional A/V has been in business for only a short time but has done an outstanding job of providing dealers with the right combination of A/V displays, complementary accessories, training and educational opportunities. Almo has the reach and relationships in place to give our commercial customers quick access and thorough support for their commercial audio installs."

Nile's assortment with Almo professional A/V includes a wide range of system integration amplifiers; Cat-5 Baluns; IR systems; and in-wall, ceiling and indoor/outdoor loudspeakers with speaker selectors and volume controls.

In addition, Almo is carrying a variety of Niles MultiZone products, including wall-mounted controls that integrate with multichannel amplifiers, speakers and other audio systems.

Almo professional A/V was founded in 2009 to serve the needs of professional audiovisual integrators, dealers and consultants with a highly skilled sales team, reseller education programs, 12 distribution centers across the U.S. and product lines specifically developed for the channel.
