Western Digital Intros Consumer SSDs

Lake Forest, Calif. - Western Digital announced its first solid-state hard drives intended for the consumer market.

The three 2.5-inch WD SiliconEdge Blue SSDs are available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB size capacities with respective suggested retails of $279, $529 and $999. The drives are available through select Western Digital retailers and direct from the company at www.wdc.com.

The drives feature a native SATA 3GBps interface with read speeds up to 250MBps and write/transfer speeds of 170MBps.
