Sears Stoking Super Bowl Sales

By Alan Wolf -- TWICE, 2/5/2010

Hoffman Estates, Ill. - Sears is sweetening its Super Bowl TV offering with a combination of promotional pricing, in-store pick-ups, comparison price checks and an online football sweepstakes.

Sales promotions for the big game include a Zenith-branded 42-inch, 720p plasma TV from LG that is selling this week for $450, and a 40-inch Samsung LED (model 71299/UN40B600) bundled with a free Blu-ray Disc player and delivery for $2,000.

Shoppers can also save delivery charges on online orders and receive the item the same day if in stock by having their purchases sent to the nearest Sears store. There, customers should receive their purchase within five minutes of arrival with a scan of a receipt barcode or credit card under the retailer's "ready in five" guarantee.

"A TV or other large-ticket items can take up to seven months for the average shopper to make a purchase decision, but with so little time before the game, we wanted to simplify the purchase process by offering everything from our real-time price checks to the ‘ready in five' guarantee," said Karen Austin, home electronics president for Sears Holdings.

Fans can also visit www.Sears.com/football to enter to win a gift card up to $1,500 as part of the Sears Blue Electronics Crew's TV MatchMaker sweepstakes, running now through Sunday, and can vote for their favorite Sears TV spots with Vikings quarterback Brett Favre, which are posted at YouTube.com/Sears.
