Warner, Technicolor Reach Long-Term Replication Deal

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 2/3/2010

Paris - Technicolor said Tuesday it has entered into a strategic partnership with Warner Bros. on long-term deal for replication and distribution of DVDs and Blu-ray Discs, among other things.

The companies said the arrangement is expected to start generating material revenue in the third quarter or 2010.

Warner Bros. is the worldwide market leader in terms of physical media volumes (DVD and Blu-ray combined). Technicolor is the world leading replicator of prerecorded physical media.

The strategic partnership also covers other aspects relating to strategic technology initiatives.

"We are extremely excited to be working with Warner Bros., the recognized world leader in packaged media," said Frederic Rose, Technicolor CEO. "Combining their expertise in creating entertainment properties and key technologies related to them with Technicolor's unrivalled track record of technological innovation is an exciting proposition filled with opportunity for both parties."
