Palm Desert, Calif. - Spare Backup, an automated online backup service for PCs and mobile devices, has signed separate agreements with Sears' home repair subsidiary ServiceLive and with wireless e-tailer Simplexity.ServiceLive was founded three years ago as a wholly owned subsidiary of Sears Holdings. The online referral business provides home repairs and improvements, as well as CE and IT support, through a nationwide network of service providers.
Under terms of a Jan. 28 agreement, Spare Backup will provide ServiceLive with such online-based services as PC data backup and transfer, cloud computing, and PC synchronization to ServiceLive customers. According to a filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), the partners will share in the revenue generated by the services, which will be co-branded as "ServiceLive, powered by Spare Backup."
Earlier last month Spare Backup forged a deal to allow Simplexity to market its data-protection services for mobile devices through Simplexity's own Wirefly.com site and through the online wireless stores it operates for such affiliates as Best Buy, RadioShack, Target and ShopNBC.
