Sungale Unveils Portable Kula IPTV

By Greg Tarr -- TWICE, 1/29/2010

Chino, Calif. - Sungale recently introduced what it calls its Kula IPTV, an ultra portable Wi-Fi enabled TV and personal media player that allows users to access live streaming television programs from around the world.

SungaleSungale’s portable Kula IPTV ($199.95 suggested retail) contains a foldaway Wi-Fi antenna to enhance reception range.
The IPTV functionality in the Kula includes a menu of selectable online video streaming content arranged by country, language and topic, including: news, sports and finance, Sungale said.

The Kula IPTV will ship to retail in early March at a $199.99 suggested retail.

Sungale offers the set with three customizable channel packages -- the Basic, the Kid and the Grand.

The Basic and Kid packages offer about 100 free streaming video channels each, while the Grand offers an upgrade to over 500 channels. Purchasers of Basic and Kid packages can upgrade to the Grand and try out the service for a full year, the company said.

"These channel packages will allow users to choose their IPTV Channels based on their preferences as well as parental controls," stated Ningjun Sun, Sungale president and CEO.

The Kula TV has a 4.3-inch screen and a newly added pop-up Wi-Fi antenna, which folds into the back of the set. The antenna is said to increase the reception strength and range for Wi-Fi access.

Each Kula set includes a built-in rechargeable battery and 2 GB of internal memory to store and play video clips, music files and digital photos on the go.

Memory is said to be expandable to 16 GBs via a SD/MMC card slot.

"We want to provide our customers with the flexibility and convenience to customize the channels they want to watch in a device that blends multiple functions and features to create a valuable experience," stated Gary Bennett, Sungale VP of sales. "The Kula is the next big thing that will revolutionize the way people watch TV."
